Frequently asked questions
Details: We'll be kicking the weekend off at the beach! Feel free to come and go as you please, but if you want to participate in the "field day," try to get there by 11:30ish. We'll be at the gazebo by the bathrooms, just look for the big green flag.
We'll also have hot dogs, light snacks, and waters. If you want anything to drink outside of that, please BYOB.
Attire: Wear whatever you feel comfortable playing games or lounging at the beach in! We'll likely be in athleisure and/or a bathing suit and cover up. We'll definitely be jumping in the lake, so bring a beach towel if you plan to join!
Getting there: We'll be at Mears State Park !Walking or biking from town is always an easy option. If you do choose to drive, heads up that you will have to pay for parking at the state park (the closest parking lot). There also close free parking on the circle at Channel Lane Park.
P.S. Browning + Moen = Broen.
Welcome Party:
We're celebrating the end of summer and beginning of fall in Michigan, so think coastal casual or lakeside chic (think linen, matching sets, light sweaters, and breezy button-downs). Keep in mind that the welcome party will be held outside on grass, so dress accordingly. It does get chilly as the sun goes down, so we recommend bringing a layer.
Ceremony and Reception:
We are kindly requesting Garden Formal attire for our ceremony and reception. Now... what does this actually mean?
For women, this means full-length or midi dresses, or dressy jumpsuits/pantsuits. If you're a visual person, Annie (very quickly) put together a Pinterest board in case it's helpful! Also, please don't stress if the dress you love has white in the pattern or is a shade of pink that *almost* looks white in pictures 😉 The ceremony will be held outside in grass, so keep that in mind when picking out your shoes.
For men, please wear a suit.
The ceremony and cocktail hour will be held outside and the reception will be fully indoors, so please check the weather to dress accordingly!
While the ceremony is walkable from most places in town, our reception venue is located about 30 minutes outside of Pentwater. We don't want you to worry about making the drive, so we will provide transportation from the ceremony to the reception and back to Pentwater at the end of the night. After dinner, shuttles will be returning to town at 30-40 minute intervals throughout the evening.
The drive consists mostly of dirt roads that are not well lit (welcome to the Midwest!), so we highly recommend not driving. If you do choose to drive, please park in the designated area, be safe, and do not drink and drive.
The Welcome Party and Ceremony are walkable from most places in town. If you do choose to drive to either of those events, we ask that you please don't park on the 100 block of South Dover Street (in front of the Brownings' house). There is ample street parking on the surrounding streets.
If you are driving to the Reception, please park in the designated area.
Unless otherwise indicated on your invitation or RSVP form, we will not be having children at our ceremony and reception. We recognize that it is difficult to travel out of town without your children, so we greatly appreciate you making arrangements to do so!
We also do recognize that traveling without kids may not be possible. If they do make the trip to Pentwater with you, we are organizing a group of trusted local babysitters. If this applies to you, please reach out to Annie and Kyle or Liz Browning (317-514-1582) and we'll help coordinate.
